for this longwinded statement, but I have had a couple of very strange emails
from people regarding copyright.
Art is on the top of the culture, porn is on the bottom of it. In spite of this fact, there is not so huge distance between them. Let’s start from art, from fine art. There are quite famous nudes, which are real masterpieces, nobody regards them as porn. But the erotic emission of these paintings and sculptures is apparent. Now we are speaking about erotic art. Erotica is sexually arousing. Porn has the same effect and goal, and this is the connection: art, erotica, sexuality, porn. Let’s see the other direction. Porn is the result of some creative work. A movie, a photo, a painting or some text is created. These works have more or less aesthetic values. These values are depend on the talent and motivation of the creator. If it’s aesthetic enough, it can become art. So the connection is existing from this direction too: porn, aesthetic values, art. And finally a joke about it: the only difference between art and pornography is a government grant.
